The installation of a new public playground sparked the community's interest in the overgrown forest along the creek below. We developed a design for a nature trail that integrated the creek and provided outdoor teaching opportunities for the adjacent Elementary School.
Implementing the project was a community effort through many community work days, guiding of Eagle Scout projects, and with the help of the city's urban forestry and public works departments and a variety of grants.
Carved out of an impenetrable privet thicket the nature trail has become a cherished part of the community green space that receives a lot of use by local residents and by the school.
